Happy New Year Amistad!

Here are tentative plans for our Friday evening Agape Meal services during January.  Please check the website for updates!

Friday, January 6 -- Epiphany: Amen!! -- We'll talk a bit about the 21st century interfaith movement and its relationship to Matthew's "scholars from the east", then sing along to our favorite "Amen!" clip from "Lilies of the Field" with Sidney Poitier.

Friday, January 13 -- Our annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Observance, with an emphasis on Dr. King's later writings and speeches about peace.

Friday, January 20 -- Karl Barth is said to have said that the Christian gospel should be preached with the Bible in one hand and a newspaper in the other.  Tonight we'll open the Bible to the Creation stories in Genesis and the newspaper to a story from CNN.com Two new "earths" and the search for life  as we contemplate the possibility of extra-terrestrial life in the universe and what vistas that will open up for Christian faith.

Friday, January 27 -- We'll continue our annual Epiphany visit to the connection between science and religion, matter and One-ness, with a look at a recent news story about the maybe-discovery of the Higgs boson (who the hell is Higgs Boson?) or Are you there, God Particle?

Hope to see you Friday!

Blessings and hope --

Marian
